Mind Your Business!
When I was thinking about what the next blog should be about, this title came to mind, "Mind Your Business." I wasn't sure what it would really be about, but I knew that I liked it. Then it dawned on me that the blog should be just about that, minding your business!
One of the reasons that we are not able to focus on ourselves and really become who we were created and designed to be is because often times we are too busy looking at other people. Although there are some people who inspire us and push us to do better, looking at others often leads to comparing ourselves to others or judging others. In order to live your best life, you have to focus on YOUR life, YOUR goals, YOUR dreams, YOUR God-given gifts and talents; not those of other people. We all know the saying, "All that glitters isn't gold." What people portray to be good isn't always good and you will find yourself coveting over a life that you don't really want.
Social media does a good job in helping us to NOT mind our business. Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, etc. are all avenues that give us a snapshot into the lives of others. We become so obsessed with what someone else is doing that we no longer think that our lives are good enough. This type of negative comparison thinking can lead to anxiety and depressive symptoms because we become aligned with these negative thoughts and we create mental chatter that is harmful to our being.
By minding your business you rid yourself of bouts of low self-esteem, poor self-image and self-worth. You don't have to rob yourself of being content where you are because someone else's accomplishments have now caused you to feel inadequate instead of inspired. It is through encouraging, uplifting, and celebrating others that we find joy, happiness, and a sense of belonging to a community that is greater than us. Let's embrace the success of others and allow it to push us to become a better version of ourselves. Until you're able to do this, please just Mind Your Business!
Love y'all and be blessed!
