Financial Health Equals Good Mental Health


Many don't understand that so many things are tied into maintaining good mental heath. One of the major contributors to stress, anxiety, and depression is financial stressors. When we are struggling financially it is hard to function everyday. Constantly being stressed out about bills, buying groceries, paying your child's tuition, and other things...will put you in a very bad head space because you don't know how you are going to make it from one day to the next. I know what it's like to feel financially stressed and it is not a great feeling! For me, I had to first get tired of being in that space and secondly, I had to take a hard look at my finances and try to identify the trouble spots. One of the things that keep us stuck is that we really don't know what is going in an out of our account. Not having a handle on how much you are spending monthly is the quickest way to lose control of your finances.


Another thing that you can do to alleviate the stress and anxiety of your finances is to stop living above your means. We often make financial decisions that causes a set back in our finances. You try to keep up with other people, you try to live the lifestyle that you are used to or you hope to live and you are just not able to do that. Learning to live modestly and not buying things that you truly don't need is very important. You also cannot get into the habit of emotional spending. If you are having a bad day, you are feeling down, anxious, or what have you....you cannot alleviate the pain you are feeling through emotional shopping. This only leads to more feelings of anxiety and depression and later on you will realize that you spent money that you didn't have and/or was allotted to something else.



One other reality is that you must identify is the fact that your 9-5 just may not bring in enough money in order for you to sustain! This a reality for many people and until you can find something that pays more, you have to get creative as to how to bring in more monthly income. Identifying multiple streams of income needs to be at the top of your to-do list. What are some things that you are good at that you can monetize? What are some hobbies that you can maybe sell or provide as a service part-time? What are some things in your home that you can sell that you don't use? How you can sell your expertise as a service to others. You must think of ways to make this work for you and don't be afraid of the grind and hard work that it will take to get this started. One thing you know for sure is that you are tired of struggling. Use that as fuel to make something happen. #MJConsistencychallenge #MJConsistencyPays
